Community Projects
Community Month
This year Widcombe Infant School have dedicated the month of May as our community month, as we want our children to be active citizens and be able to contribute to their community. Many wonderful events have taken place and we are extremely grateful to our parents/carers who have thoroughly supported these events.
We have provided Toddler Times for toddlers in the community to spend time at school playing, getting involved in activities, having story time and snack time.
Our Year 2 children have visited Woodside Care Home entertaining the residents with a variety of songs and teaching them drumming with rhythm sticks, before spending time chatting to them.
Our Year 1 children visited a local group Coffee Plus to play games with them.
Our Reception children have made and delivered food to the Lifeline Project which supports homeless people in our community.
Some of our children have been planting in the Dolemeads Community Garden and have thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity.
We had a fantastic community morning at Widcombe Infant School in which staff, parents and children worked on the school site gardening, painting, building, cleaning, varnishing and planting to spring clean our wonderful school grounds.
