The children all had great fun at the Science Explorer Dome Science Tricks workshops.
Science Explorer Dome regularly visit Widcombe Infant School and this year they brought their workshop on Science Tricks for all the children. The children were Scientists for the morning and though lots of the tricks looked like magic, they explored the science behind what was happening in each experiment. They learnt why a piece of paper moves through the air differently after it has been scrunched into a ball. They also learnt that different metals burn with different coloured flames. Many of the children’s favourite experiment involved dry ice and what happens when it is placed in a sealed canister. After a while the canister exploded due to the build up of gas. It made a very loud bang!
