On the 14th June Widcombe Infant School celebrated our annual International Day. This is such an important day in our school year as we can celebrate our children's diverse cultures and heritage. The children dressed up in their national costume or in the colours of the flag of a country that is important to them.
Throughout the day the children were involved in dance workshops. They explored the world using maps and photographs. In the afternoon all the children participated in a multicultrual picnic trying foods from around the world. At the end of the day the children took part in a multicultural parade around our local community of Widcombe watched by their families, before performing the Indian dance they had developed in their workshops.
Flossie ~ 'I loved tasting all the food as you can find out more about the countries.'
Polina ~ 'I liked dressing up in my Russian clothes and I could tell everyone about my country. It was a really fun day.'
Hiroto ~ 'The sushi was my favourite part of the day as I love it and I could show my friends the food that is eaten in Japan.'
