Welcome to Class 2!
Class 2 have fully embraced the new loose parts area. We have created various large-scale structures using almost every resource available. Each piece has a story behind it, including a bat cave made from a coconut shell, a volcano complete with Unifix cube lava and a dragon’s lair with wooden guards to protect it.
One of our favourite activities in school is cooking. We have already made pizza faces, cheesy feet, bear face toast and some delicious bread. We have discussed why we need to eat and how what we eat affects our bodies.
During PE we have had the opportunity to practise moving in different ways around the hall as well as over the equipment. We also enjoyed retelling the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ using a selection of yoga poses. This has enabled us to strengthen our bodies through a variety of stretches whilst having lots of fun.
Class 2 became stars of the show during our recent visit to the Literature Festival. The children took to the stage, dressed as various characters from the picture book ‘Why are there so many books about bears?’ We all enjoyed listening to the story as well as singing some rather catchy songs.
The children have been exploring the school’s grounds over the last few weeks. We were all thrilled to meet Pingu our school chicken and slightly surprised to discover a frog hopping around the orchard.
