Our annual Arts Week takes place the week before the Easter holidays and the theme for 2017 was In The Woods. A range of Arts activities was planned which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
Brokerswood - Whole School Trip
All the children went on a school trip to Brokerswood to take part in a range of Forest School activities to experience the woods first hand. Reception children participated in fire lighting activities and spent time in the woodland park. Year 1 children participated in a treasure hunt around the woods where they saw the Gruffalo and played woodland games. Year 2 children spent time on the lake learning to canoe, went on the zip wire and built dens.
All children participated in Art workshops with our Artist in Residence. The children in their classes created different woodlands to show the woods in the different seasons of the year or different times of the day. The children used a wide range of mediums and techniques to create the trees, plants, animals, birds and creatures.
All children participated in a musical performance led by James who plays a range of brass instruments. The children listened to him playing, sang along to some songs, danced to some music and particularly enjoyed playing some of his instruments.
All children participated in Dance workshops. The children learnt different movements to create a dance linked to our theme of In The Woods.
